The Time is NOW:

Call & Email Legislative Leadership & Members of the Appropriations Committee TODAY

The Legislature will meet to close a $220 million gap for the remainder of FY 2016 on Tuesday, March 29, 2016.  After that, the Appropriations Committee will be focusing on FY 2017 where they will have to close almost a $1 billion gap before July 1st.

Call and Email Legislative Leadership & Members of the Appropriations Committee and use the following script:

  • Please maintain current resources to end homelessness in CT.  Our efforts are working!  CT has ended veteran homelessness, and we are on the way to ending chronic homelessness across CT! Our efforts are cost effective, save lives, and save funds in other parts of the budget.

    • Please Preserve the funding in the Housing/Homeless Line item in the Department of Housing.

    • Please Preserve the funding in the Housing Supports Line Item in the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services.

    • Please Preserve the state’s Homeless Youth Program, and critically needed resources for the Coordinated Access Networks -largely funded through Community Investment Act dollars (CIA)

  • Our success depends on the funding and services that are currently in place. If those current services are cut, we will lose ground, and out homeless population will grow.

    • Cutting these resources will have major repercussions across communities — including on our emergency services, hospitals, and first responders — especially at a time when they cannot afford extra costs.

    • Thank you for working so diligently on the issues of homelessness and housing! Please continue to fight for people experiencing homelessness.
