Fund the Frontline Legislative Update

March 30, 2021

Last Friday March 26, Senate Bill 340 made its way onto the Appropriations Committee agenda for a subject matter public hearing. Legislators listened to, and read testimony from, our own CCEH staff and membership about the importance of requiring state agencies to ensure that funding levels for homelessness and housing assistance services reflect the true cost of these professional services.

Those dedicated to eradicating homeless shared their passion for this work and the challenges associated with earning low wages and benefits. Investing in our providers and their staff means investing in the well-being of our community. There is still much more work to be done to ensure that S.B. 340 makes it out of Committee and to the desk of Governor Lamont. You can check out the Appropriations Committee YouTube channel to view the entire hearing. We have also grabbed a few of the testimonies in support of the bill and you can those by clicking here.

We are asking for you to please contact members of the Appropriations Committee and express why #FundTheFrontLines is critical to the work you all do. CCEH would like to thank all those that took the time to submit testimony and testify in S.B. 340 last week. We now await a decision on whether or not the Committee will vote to draft language for the bill.
